Namaqualand, one of the world's most enchanting semi-desert areas, is the true world of the great outdoors. Annual rainfall is erratic. Winter day time temperatures vary from a cool 4ºC to a moderate maximum of 25ºC, while in the summer the mercury rises to 30ºC and at times even 40ºC. Restaurant & Cuisine

The restaurant is a relaxing area that provides facilities for different daily activities and »inactivity« if you just want to relax and enjoy a drink or a book. It is a place that, apart from the dining area, also embraces a library and a computer corner as well as a comfortable lounge. Three main meals (breakfast, lunch and dinner) are generally served buffet or family style. Complementary tea and coffee are available at all times and in the afternoon we offer a selection of sweet or savoury snacks.

We offer a variety of healthy meals using fresh produce from the local market and fresh fish catch from local fishermen. The meals are a carefully chosen combination of Asiatic and International dishes which will not leave any of the guests dissatisfied. We are usually able to accommodate special diet needs if given an adequate advance notice.

Bungalow

The thatched roof bungalows are built in the traditional Indonesian architectural style. The wooden construction enables the see breeze to bring the natural aeration and freshness indoors so there is no need for air-conditioning. Occasionally the nights can get even suprisingly cold. All the bungalows are of the same size (36m2) and standard. Interior equipment and décor are designed with simplicity to enchance the pristine spirit of the place.

Dive Center

All our buildings are strictly natively looking from the outside but offer a lot of comfort inside. The roughly 10000 sq m big lot with 150 m beach front led us to the idea of building the «Drftwood Village», situated right at the center of the purely sandy Sugar Beach.

Not two of our bungalows look the same. From the two story family house to the smallest hut we’re using only native materials. All our bungalows roofs are made out of native "Nipa-Leaves", to keep them cool and cosy. We used as little concrete as possible to keep the "Village" atmosphere of our resort. Daily housekeeping is included in the room rates.

Café Garam, which means Salt Café, is part of Hotel Uyah Amed and Spa Resort, which we have translated as Salt Lodge Amed. Garam is the Indonesian – and Uyah the Balinese word for salt.

Mid 2000 we were sitting in Amed and discussed the tremendous changes in the area due to the growing tourism. More and more salt production fields were left unused or sold by their owners to be used for bungalows etc. Since we did not like the idea that the traditional salt production would disappear in the near future we worked out our plan to preserve this tradition for the people of Amed as well as for interested foreigners. In order to combine the development of tourism with the traditional lifestyle we decided to build this hotel and café around the salt production fields and use the salt production as our motto. We strive to preserve the traditional salt production by promoting it as point of interest for foreign tourists and explain the production process. We produce the salt during dry season (when production is possible) and store it in our traditional bamboo hut “Gudang Garam”. You can buy this tasty salt in our Café Garam.

In order to contribute to a sustainable development in this beautiful part of Bali we are strongly committed to an environmentally friendly implementation of our services and strive for prevention of pollution. Our Hotel is equipped with solar powered water heating systems, which use the mostly available sun and require no electrical energy for heating. Since most of our guest request air-conditioned accommodation we have equipped most of our bungalows with electrical air conditioners and selected low electricity consuming units for that purpose. We further have applied an air conditioning /cooling system based on the effect of evaporation for our non AC bungalows (No 2 – 7). Our system works best with a strong wind that we usually enjoy in Amed. For the convenience of our guest we additionally installed electrical ceiling fans to support the air ventilation.

We have implemented and maintain an environmental management system to reduce the consumption of natural resources and to prevent pollution by waste separation, composting, energy and water – saving installations and programs. We grow fruit and vegetables in our BIO garden. We try to communicate our environmental goals to the local community and our guest in order to be in harmony with this beautiful environment.

Comfort Bungalows

Six double room stilt wooden bungalows (30 sqm.) with a spacious veranda (14 sqm.) set along the wetland border and immersed in the wild growing flora of this area.

From the ideas of designer Vincent Fischer Zernin, traditional building materials and workmanship have been blended with modern concepts and architecture. The front wall of the rooms is entirely built by glass to give the opportunity to our guests to admire the landscape and the surrounding nature at any moment thus feeling an incomparable sense of spaciousness.
The hot water (solar powered) shower room, which is separated from the toilet area, is built to give the possibility to have a view through the front wall in the deep green and blue colour shades of the wetland. The bungalow's lighting is supplied by an individual solar system or directly connected to the hydroelectric powered grid.

All rooms have a ceiling fan and electrical plugs.

Eco Rooms

Resort allows guests to use their own tents provided that they have atleast one facility used, extra charges apply ( Php 50 good for 2, Php 100 good for 4-6, 200 for extra large tents ), bringing of electrical appliances/implements is also allowed with extra fee for electrical consumption with the exception of cellphone/ipod/laptop chargers of which are free of charge. The resort is also pet friendly but guests are reminded that they must always bring restrainers to avoid unwanted accidents, likewise pets should be controllable as to noise..if they are unruly and cannot be controlled by owners, the management has the right to place them where they will not disturb other guest/s. pets are not allowed inside the cluster house nor the cluster rooms. guest are limited to one pet per group.( no bitches with puppies )

Our beachfront Spa is managed by the acclaimed Coconut Spa, where the highly skilled Balinese therapists offer a pampering experience tailored to meet the needs of the individual, including a variety of massages, body and hair treatments, pedicures, manicures, facials and spa packages.

Spa facilities include air-conditioned ‘couples’ and ‘singles’ treatment rooms; ventilated thatch huts on the beach; Jacuzzi and steam room and a manicure and pedicure area plus a Spa boutique, selling a wide range of spa products.

Rivertime is an ecolodge resort located in a 1.5 hectare patch of secondary forest on the banks of the Nam Ngum river about 30 km outside of the capital, Vientiane. We have 9 wooden lodges located in natural spaces in the forest and a large floating restaurant on the river. Seven of the lodges are private lodges which can accommodate up to 3 people each ($38 per lodge including breakfast) and the other two are 3-bed dormitories ($10 a bed not including breakfast). Our last room is a twin single room with air con or fan assisted - with shared balcony over looking the pacific ,and en suite bathroom , all rooms have linen provide and towels .
We have only advertised the prices of the fan assisted rooms and not the air con rooms, family room ,or the twin single, please contact us for prices on these rooms , if you decide you want to use the air con rooms as fan rooms , the rates apply as listed !The big break called ( Big Wish ) at Pacifico is a left hand corner, with a sharp drop off onto the reef , you have to be very careful on certain tides as it catches many out on there first visit,depending on which way you like to surf this is one of the best breaks on the island ,not to be missed ! Down the beach from the ( Big ish ) is what we describe as a beginners break ideal for those not ready for the big waves , a great ride and really undiscovered , something for the kids to get on while the parents can watch safely from the beach without to much worry ! Being as Sailfishbay is situated on the east coast , we are ideally set for all the breaks onwards and towards the north ,at Burgos , Tangbo and further round , untouched by many and the advantage when the island gets busy in Cloud Nine .

Tiki Suites (5)

These Polynesian-style cabanas are very romantic and located 60 feet (20m) from the beach. Decorated with an abundance of wood and bamboo, these suites breathe the atmosphere of a private cottage. All suites have a wooden king size bed from where you enjoy the view of the ocean. The private bath features both a Jacuzzi and a shower.

Opened on December 2007, the first X2 resort is at Kui Buri (pronounced goo-wee boo-ree). Kui Buri is a 3 hours drive south of Bangkok, and half an hour south of the famous beachside resort town of Hua Hin "where the Thai royal family frequently reside". The general area is underdeveloped and peaceful with the only communities being local fishing villages. The resort is located on virgin beachfront land covering over 4 acres (12 Rai). The 23 semi private villas each have their own terrace, garden and most with private pools.

The existing landscape of large, well developed trees has been carefully preserved, and provides a unique atmosphere punctuated by large open spaces and unique natural horticulture.

At X2 we provide a combination of traditional massage therapies, with mind and soul awareness exercises.

The general area is underdeveloped and peaceful with the only a few high-end residential villa projects sharing the beach. The resort occupies 5 acres (12 Rai) of land, with 27 villas. Most have private swimming pools, and outside areas. The 100 meter beachfront and 50 year old trees help provide the X2 atmosphere the owners were striving to achieve, and gave designers the background on which to recreate the resort. The resort has a first class Spa, large resort swimming pool and many large open and green spaces.

Cottages: these are constructed in the same traditional style as the local Goan houses, with ensuite bathrooms and private verandas at the front.

Domes: our own unique, space-age design, these are constructed of locally available materials such as lava rock, palm leaves, grass and mango wood and local clays and sand. All domes have ensuite bathrooms.
 

FOOD & DRINK

All reservations include breakfast delivered to your room at a time of your choosing. We have a daytime snack menu and a 24hr licensed service for alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks and refreshments. Lassis, fresh juices, beers, wines, cocktails or soft drinks can be brought to you on the beach or to your room. Evening meals can be prepared to order, produce is brought in fresh on the day or supplied by the kitchen garden at Jivana Plantation.

Airport transfer is available at any time, priced at Rs 1500 per car, Rs 1800 for a 6 seater car.
We can also collect from any railway station, the nearest of which are Pernem (Rs 500) and Thivim (Rs 700).
Cars are available 24hrs for guests wherever they wish to go, whether out for the day, out for dinner or just to a nearby village and back.

For group / yoga retreat / workshop bookings:

Many people contact us regarding coming to Goa and using Jivana as a venue for yoga retreats, which is one of the main reasons why the Plantation came into being. We encourage yoga and other workshop groups to book the whole of Jivana as this guarantees privacy and quiet during practice. Whether it be yoga with music, meditation, healing or even a corporate workshop, we are always flexible to our visitors' needs and strive to meet all requirements. Some of our cottages can be switched to twin beds to accommodate a larger number of guests and we also have some wonderful communal meditation / meeting / eating spaces by the Temple House at the top of the grounds overlooking the valley.
 

FOOD & DRINK

Our walled, organic vegetable and herb garden is harvested daily by our kitchen staff to provide food and juices for our guests.

We have a licensed bar (and waiter) service and breakfast is included in all rates. We have a cook who can be allocated to a particular booking on request, or meals can just be ordered as and when desired.
